Fitness Class: A MATTER OF BALANCE - Fall 2025
Corewell Health:
Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities.  
A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.

You will learn to:
~ View falls as controllable
~ Set goals for increasing activity
~ Make changes to reduce fall risks at home
~ Exercise to increase strength and balance

Who should attend?
~ Anyone concerned about falls
~ Anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility, and strength
~ Anyone who has fallen in the past
~ Anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns


Dates:       Thursdays, September 25 - November 13
Time:         9:30 - 11:30am
Location:   Neighborhood Club Board Room, Second Floor
Cost:         Free to ALL participants
Registration is required and opens:   August 1, 2025

Participants are expected to attend at least 6 - 8 sessions of this 8 week program.
Program is one 2-hour class per week for 8 weeks
Max. 15, Min. of 5 participants.

Fitness class: Higher Vibes Meditation
Join us for this 90-minute session designed to help you shape your day.  Build your inner strength and require your neurological patterns to set your internal compass toward serenity.  Ground your physical energy to avoid feeling overwhelmed or stressed.  Learn to breathe effectively, signaling ever cell and organ in your body to repair and rejuvenate.

Fitness Class: InBody Composition Challenge [* Members only *]
The InBody Composition Challenge moves the conversation away from "weight loss" to body composition (fat loss and muscle gain), creating long-term goals.  Shifting the perspective to understanding what it means to genuinely transform one's health.

Registration includes:
~  InBody Analysis at the start & end of the challenge
~  One Private Personal Training session
~  A chance to claim one of the top 3 prizes

Date:        January 12 - February 28
Fee:         Members:  $50
Initial weigh-in: week of  January 12
Final weigh-in:  February 23 - 28

Registration opens:  December 1, 2025

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

1.  Sign up for your initial InBody Analysis via the sign up link found on the front page of www.neighborhoodclub.org.  If you cannot make the initial Analysis, email Becky: becky@neighborhoodclub.org to schedule a different appointment.
2.  You will receive 1 personal training session.
3.  The InBody app must be downloaded to track your progress and to use as your nutritional guide.
4.  Stay on track with weekly accountability/update emails.
5. Final InBody Analysis will be between February 23 - 28.  This will be calculated against your initial analysis to determine winners.

Retreat for the Mind:  Meditation for Stress Relief and General Well Being

This workshop will teach scientific techniques of Yoga Meditation that are universally accepted to reduce stress and create a sense of upliftment and contentment.  The instructor, Roy E. Thibodeau, has been practicing and teaching Meditation and Yoga for more than 50 years.  All levels of experience Welcome!

Fitness Class: Tai Chi, Winter 2026
Tai Chi for Health with Vernice is a gentle exercise program combining slow movements, deep breathing, and mindfulness to improve balance flexibility, and overall well-being.  Suitable for all fitness levels, it promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and enhances physical and mental health.

Fitness: Seeds of Nutrition
Seeds of Nutrition Indoor Gardening and Recipes

Discover the power of indoor gardening in this two-part class series.  Gary will provide the essential educational background on the health benefits of leafy greens, sprouts, and microgreens, alongside practical demonstrations on how to grow and harvest them right in your own home.

Beyond gardening, you will learn how to incorporate these nutrient-dense plants into delicious, fresh recipes.  Whether you are ready to start your own indoor garden or simply want to learn how to source these healthy options locally, this class provides the tools and knowledge to elevate your lifestyle.

Part l:  Microgreens & Sprouts
This first session introduces the fundamentals of indoor growing, focusing on the high nutritional value of "immediate harvesting".  Participants will explore the best vegetables for indoor cultivation and learn effective harvesting techniques.  This class includes demo and participation for starting your microgreen tray to take home and grow yourself.

Part ll:  Hydroponics
The second session of this series focuses on mastering indoor growing systems and ensuring you have access to fresh produce.  This class provides the tools to maintain a healthy lifestyle, whether you choose to grow at home or source locally.  This session also includes recipe demonstrations and sampling.

Calling All Sound Seekers - Join Sheila for a transformative sound journey featuring crystal bowls, gongs, chimes, and various percussion instruments designed to release tension from your physical, mental, and emotional bodies.

Membership is required for Normatec compression sleeves.  Purchased packages may be used ONLY by the purchasing member.  Individual packages may not be shared.  Payment & registration transactions are handled at the front desk.

Once purchased, sign up is available at www.neighborhoodclub.org/recovery

Our compression boots can reduce muscle soreness, inflammation, and fatigue by improving circulation and lymphatic drainage, thereby accelerating recovery.
