Fitness Class: A MATTER OF BALANCE
Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.
You will learn to: ~ View falls as controllable ~ Set goals for increasing activity ~ Make changes to reduce fall risks at home ~ Exercise to increase strength and balance
Who should attend? ~ Anyone concerned about falls ~ Anyone interested in imporving balance, flexibility,and strength ~ Anyone who has fallen in the past ~ Anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns
Dates: Thursdays, May 4 to June 29 (no class 6/8/2023) Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm Location: Neighborhood Club Board Room, Second Floor Cost: Free to the public Instructor: Sunny Participants are expected to attend at least 6 - 8 sessions of this 8 week program. Max. 15, Min. of 5 participants.

A workshop for the entire family*. Learn the basics of breath to help better understand emotions, settle down before bed, and provide a sense of overall relaxtation. This workshop combines low-impact movement, breathing exercises, and education so that you leave feeling more equipped to handle everyday stressors. *Children under 14 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years or older.

Fitness Class: Tai Chi for Health
Tai Chi is an exercise form with its roots from Qi Gong and Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is now widely practiced across the world for improving health including balance, leg strength, and relaxation.
About the Instructor: Ginseng is a Tai Chi for Health Institute Certified instructor who has studied Tai Chi for many years. She is influenced by her many teachers including her father who is a Judo Grandmaster. Ginseng graduated from the University of Michigan in Flint with her Clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy, and holds Masters and Undergraduate degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Fitness: Down Dog Deep Dive
If you feel pain in your dog, you're not alone. You deserve to feel your best in every posture and truthfully, down dog isn't as easy as it may look. Join Naomi Gold, owner of Detroit Yoga Lab for this in-studio 60 minute lab where she will breakdown common misunderstanding and alignment malfunctions in down dog. Naomi will walk you through the process of how to understand the body you actually have and develop acute awareness of your unique alignment to diminish your struggle. Most of us spend a lot of time in down dog while we're on out mats, so let's get comfortable.
