Shallow Water Lifeguard Certification

STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ALL SCHEDULED DAYS AND TIMES OF THE IN-PERSON COURSE AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE COURSE.

This course is intended for candidates who are interested in working at the Neighborhood Club Aquatics Center beginning in mid-August.

This certification allows a passing candidate to be employed at a facility where the deepest depth of a pool is no more than 5 feet deep, such as the Neighborhood Club!  If a passing candidate is employed and works as a lifeguard at the Neighborhood Club from the end of the class through at least December 2021, candidates will have the opportunity to bridge to a Lifeguard Certification by completing the deep water portion over the winter, along with a $25 course refund.

The 7-hour online component and detailed information will be emailed to participants at least one week prior to the start of class.  This component must be completed and passed by the first day.

Prerequisites:
1)  Must be at least 15 years of age by the last day of class.
2)  Swim 100 yards continuously using breaststroke or freestyle technique
3)  Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs
4)  Swim 20 yards, submerge to a depth of 5 feet to retrieve a 10lb brick.  Return to the surface and walk or swim 20 yards to the starting point.  Exit water without using a ladder or steps.


Class dates:  August 17 - 20 @ 10am - 3pm
Registration deadline is:   August 6

Cost:             $225/person
Class Minimum:  5   Class Maximum: 10
If the class minimum is not met, the class will be cancelled and a full refund will be given.

Cancellation Policy:
Refunds will be made if the registrant cancels 7 days prior to the start of the course, with a processing fee of $15 deducted.
If a cancellation is made within 7 days prior to the start date, only the $40 certification fee will be refunded.
