Cognitive games. Cognitive games provide experience with puzzles, go-togethers, shapes, colors and numbers which strengthen young minds and make them work. The manipulate table provides experiences needed to improve fine motor coordination. Sewing, stringing, pegboards, Legos, and Mr. Potato Heads provide practice in this area. Playdough is a soothing manipulative which strengthens hands and fingers, getting them ready to cut and write. These learning experiences combine scientific and mathematical concepts. It is important that children be exposed to concrete experiences and this contribution to their growing perceptual development will add a good solid base for later cognitive learning. |
